o        Internships

WFM-IGP offers an internship program for individuals interested in learning more about federalism, the United Nations, global governance, the role of NGOs in the development and promotion of human rights, and other related issues.

The internship program at WFM-IGP provides practical and high-level experience in the international peace and justice arena, and an opportunity to become engaged with the latest developments in global governance, the rule of law, human rights, and other peace and security issues. Interns are involved in all of WFM-IGP’s programs in various research and administrative capacities, and work closely alongside staff on projects and programs that impact every region of the world. Throughout the year, interns regularly attend meetings at the United Nations, International Criminal Court, and leading partner organizations. They additionally interact with government officials, civil society actors, the media, and other eminent individuals from around the globe, providing them with valuable insight into the roles of NGOs, governments, and the UN, while advancing their foreign language and other key skills in the process.

WFM-IGP offers internships during the Spring (January-April), Summer (May-August), and Fall/Winter (September-December) terms. The duration of internships typically last from one to two terms on a part-time (at least two days a week) or full-time basis.

All internships require a proficiency in English and an interest in WFM-IGP’s mission. Applications from non U.S. citizen/permanent resident applicants are welcome; however, they must show appropriate authorization to work in the US. WFM-IGP cannot sponsor individuals applying for internships to help them obtain visas.

Internships are open to undergraduate and graduate students from a variety of disciplines. Applications from volunteers who are currently not in an academic program are also considered. Please refer to the WFM-IGP New York Internship Manual, or the individual internship announcements, for more information.

Deadlines for applications:
Summer Term: 1 April

Fall/Winter Term: 1 August
Spring Term: 1 November

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Because of the large amount of submissions received, we are unable to field phone calls about the status of your application. Only short-listed candidates will be contacted for an interview.

Please note that the following internships will be based in the WFM-IGP International Secretariat in New York, unless otherwise noted.
